Comparing Decisions

Think about the decisions that your character has had to make. Explain how you would have handled the same problems that they did. Would you have made the same choices your character did? Or would you have solved the problems in a different way. Explain your reasoning.

Shining Moment

Answer the following question from your point of view and then from a character in your book's point of view:

All of us experience events that stay in our hearts and minds forever. Please share the most memorable moment in your life. Explain why it's so important to you.

Best Friends

As we get to know people, we are able to decide if they could be our friend. You have learned a lot about your main character over the past few weeks. Tell whether or not you could become best friends with this person. Describe, using specific reasons, why or why not.

On T.V.

Pretend one of your characters has just arrived home after school. What television programs would he/she watch? Why do you think they would choose these programs? If you do not think they would watch T.V., what would they do instead?

Past, Present, or Future

In the book you are reading are the characters living in the past, future, or do they remain in the present time? What have you learned about this time period thus far? Do you think the world is better or worse off now?

Mood Clues

Mad? You slam a door. Hurt? You cry or run away. Sad? You slump your shoulders. What you say and do communicate your mood and even your personality. The same is true for book characters. Pretend you have just been told by a family member that you must spend the entire summer at a distant relatives house in another country. How would you react? How would your main character react?
